Who Can Audition?
We accepts members from ages 6-25 at time of enrollment. Our beginning ensemble requires at least 1 year of playing experience and the ability to read music. We do not offer classes for absolute beginners at this time.

Who Must Audition?
-All New Musicians
-All Continuing Orchestra or Novae Musicians
-Continuing musicians wishing to move up to next-level ensemble
-Continuing musicians wishing to join an additional ensemble.

Where are Auditions Held?
Auditions are by appointment, located at the University Center at College of the Canyons.

When is My Audition?
You will receive an audition appointment time once your application and audition fee payment have been submitted.

How do I join an Ensemble?
NEW MUSICIANS: You need to audition if you would like to enroll in one or more of our ensembles. Please complete and submit the Enrollment Form and Audition Fee.

Auditions are held prior to the start of each semester. Musicians will perform for members of the SCVYO artistic staff. The artistic directors will evaluate and make an ensemble placement decision at the time of audition. Auditions are to be unaccompanied. Only musician is allowed in the audition room.

What if I am returning and want to stay in the same Ensemble?
Only Prelude musicians are exempt from re-auditioning every year. Orchestra & Novae musicians are required to audition once a year in the Fall.

I am returning and want to move up to the next advanced ensemble.  What is required?
If you would like to move up or join an additional ensemble, you need to audition and pay the audition fee before your appointment will be scheduled. Evaluation and placement decisions are made solely by the artistic directors at the time of audition.  See the links below for the typical skill levels required for each ensemble.
