A youth orchestra for the 21st century.

Welcome to the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra, where we believe in the power of youth music education to inspire curious minds, promote personal growth, and nurture lifelong friendships.

Here are a few things that set us apart from other youth orchestra programs:

Diverse Programming

We pride ourselves on having one of the most adventurous youth orchestra programs in the country; frequently programming contemporary, cross-cultural and interdisciplinary works alongside standard western classical orchestral repertoire.

Our staff, made up of exceptional working teaching artists, are continuously evolving a fun, challenging and comprehensive curriculum tailored to the interests and passions of our students. Through this approach, our students receive high-level instrumental training in an ensemble setting, coupled with a broad perspective on the diverse skills demanded in today's professional music industry.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

We strive to make every performance a magical, unforgettable experience for performers and audiences. Each season SCVYO partners with local visual artists, dancers, film-makers and more, to create engaging, visually dynamic concert experiences that enrich the cultural life of our city. These can include instrument petting zoos and pre-concert crafts, stunning animated visuals, and dancers leaping through the orchestra!

Fostering Community

Our instructors facilitate a fun and supportive rehearsal environment that prioritizes the personal and artistic growth of every musician. We couple this with social gatherings, field trips, tours and smaller local performances which give students a chance to build community outside of rehearsals. At SCVYO, our motto is “Come for the music, stay for the friendships!”

“We are always looking to challenge our students to reflect on music with a more global lens, and consider how they can employ it to enrich their community.”
